About The Legacy Lounge

The Legacy Lounge offers the public an intimate perspective into the lives of Santa Barbara County natives, individuals who have contributed to the community, and the legends who lived before us. Focused on preserving personal stories, fostering community integrity, and celebrating local culture, it champions in-person gatherings as a means to showcase authenticity and the inherent need for social-emotional connection. The Legacy Lounge stands as the cornerstone of building community, cultivating relationships that seamlessly weave into the dynamic tapestry of our region.

Our mission is to spotlight long-term residents, local families, and charitable organizations through an ongoing series of public, in-person events.

We preserve intimate stories and support local culture, emphasizing authenticity and championing the importance of communal, social-emotional connections.

The Legacy Lounge serves as a platform for audience members to explore their values and engage in what community means to them. These ongoing, intimate gatherings foster a warm and inviting environment that supports social cohesion, allowing people to feel valued, seen, and heard. Much like a place of worship, The Legacy Lounge cultivates a supportive, welcoming environment where connections deepen over time. This process enhances trust and encourages ongoing participation from individuals who progressively feel psychologically safe to contribute, connect, and belong.

Legacy Speakers

The Legacy Lounge embodies the essence of our community, showcasing locals whose stories captivate curious minds. Legacy Speakers offer an intimate perspective on their experience living in Santa Barbara County by sharing their stories through public, in-person events.

The events are designed to captivate the essence of our county through the speaker's perspective, leaving audience members with a renewed sense of connection to the community.

Conversation topics are as diverse as the speakers themselves, reflecting the dynamic tapestry of our region. We invite community members to attend our exclusive events, offering a space where they can meet like-minded individuals who share a common interest for inclusivity and with their love for the city they call home.

Current Santa Barbara County residents who are multi-generational families, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, historians, and experts in their field are welcome to inquire.

About the Founding Member & Host

The Legacy Lounge founder and host Jack Azar is a third-generation Santa Barbaran, raised in the seaside town of Summerland. This is where his grandparents landed when they arrived from Douma, Lebanon in 1932. His grandfather, Sam Azar Sr., built his business as a local grocer, butcher, and gas station on Lillie Avenue, providing necessities to the locals and creating a reliable destination when visitors would travel from Los Angeles on their way to Santa Barbara.

Rooted in this legacy of service and community, Jack grew up surrounded by stories, both local and ancestral, that shaped his deep respect for inter-generational connection. As a proud Lebanese-American, Jack draws heavily from his cultural heritage, where hospitality is sacred, stories are cherished, and elders are honored as the Keepers of Wisdom. These values are the heart of everything he creates. Whether at a dinner table or in a shared storytelling space, he believes that meaningful connections across age, identity, and experience are essential to a purpose-driven life.

Jack earned his undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from San Francisco State University and holds an Associate Coaching Certification (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation. As his profession, Jack leads group programs at GlideView Collective for individuals navigating major life transitions around milestone birthdays. His personal interests and professional journey have given him the opportunity to live in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris, and New York City, enriching his worldview and equipping him with the insight to hold space for people of various backgrounds and experiences.

Through The Legacy Lounge, Jack returns to his roots, offering a space where community members can pause, reflect, and honor the stories that shape who we are and how we are evolving in modern-day life. Inspired by the storytelling traditions of his Lebanese upbringing and the coastal vibes of Santa Barbara, he invites others to slow down, listen deeply, and remember that it's our stories that truly connect us.
